To encourage use of green alternatives, we set up eco bazaar: to inspire and motivate people to adopt a greener way of living.
RUR has held the following Eco bazaars:
I am a resident of Raheja Vihar and got associated with the RUR Greenlife team last year. Human race is living at the edge of various environmental destructions. RUR team with Tetra Pak has taken the initiative in a positive way to pave the way for us to live in an environmental friendly society. My residential society is also contributing in a small way by collecting Tetra Pak cartons from each house and segregating them in a bin made from recycled Tetra Pak cartons. The collection van visits all the buildings at regular intervals. Let us all be responsible citizens and be a part of this team and live in an environmental friendly city.
RUR has a team of very well founded scientists and engineers. They provided us with all relevant equipment for managing our garden- and kitchen waste. They come when required and actively follow up with us on the composting process going on in our tumblers. Their interactions with us are in such a way that we (initiators as well as staff) get to learn to manage the composting process on our own. They have heart for the case and are committed to doing the best possible for the environment which goes well beyond composting alone. RUR embodies “Nurturing Nature” through its work and people.
Godrej Properties has taken up a community waste management project in mumbai to minimise household waste going to the city’s landfill. This project will determine if we can build healthier communities that generate near-to-zero waste. Godrej along with five societies across Mumbai had selected RUR after a lengthy vendor selection process. The project has been a great success, relying heavily on the work and enthusiasm of the RUR team, their technical expertise and commitment to impoving the sustainable standard of living in Mumbai. From sensitising residents and ensuring segregation of waste streams to set up of organic and dry waste systems in-situ, the RUR team has made this project a reality and helped to understand the possibilities of managing waste responsibility. We have built a strong case for all developments to near-to-zero waste communities thus eliminating the stream of problems caused by urban waste.
Changing a rooted mindset is one of the most difficult tasks to achieve… but RUR have managed to do just that. We at Kalpataru Harmony are extremely grateful to Team RUR for the fantastic and selfless support they have extended to us. The extremely qualified and knowledgable staff hand held us through the entire process right from conducting orientations to setting uo the composting system to consistent check ups. They have tirelessly, without any complaints answered all our laymen’s doubts, queries and questions and this has resulted in a fabilous harvest of ‘Green Gold’ for us. The most important aspect of this whole endeavour, setting in motion a sea change in the way we perceive our environment, was spectacularly achieved. Team RUR has not only made us aware of our responsibility to mother earth, but has also sparked in us an urge to go out there and convert many move citizens, to be environmnetally conscious. We wish Team RUR every success, always! God bless!
A commendable campaign adopted by RUR Greenlife. As we learn about the impact of human interaction with the environment, our young eco- friendly citizens at Ecole Mondiale World School are overwhelmed with the fact that they can save trees simply by collecting Tetra Pak cartons. They now pause and reflect as they hold an empty pack which they mindlessly discarded earlier. The incentive in the form of furniture made from recycling Tetra Pak cartons which they receive for all the effort they invest to collect Tetra Pak cartons; leaves an ever lasting impression in their hearts and minds. No better way to prepare the youth as we will pass the baton to them for a greener planet.
We are happy to have been associated with RUR Greenlife and express our sincere Thanks to them for regularly organizing empty Tetra Pak carton collection from our office in BKC, Mumbai. ‘Go Green with Tetra Pak Recycling Program’ is a blessing to society as Cleaner the Environment, Better it is for Public at large. We cherish the kind gesture of presenting to us with a Bench made by used and recycled Tetra Pak cartons by RUR Greenlife which is kept in our office as per attached file. I would specifically like to mention that it gives me a great amount of Happiness when I see several activities being undertaken by RUR Greenlife while working with children and students in various schools across the city. This inculcates the practice of recycling at that tender age which I am sure becomes part of their life.
When RUR and CMCA (Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness) joined hands, a whole new army of recyclers was born. At Campion School, my fellow CMCA volunteer, Paulami Chakraborty and I, enable children to collect used Tetra Pak cartons and take them to the nearby Sahakari Bhandar every week. In return for every 12 Tetra Pak cartons donated, we got a notebook made out of recycled Tetra Pak cartons. And when we reach our first milestone of 4500 Tetra Pak cartons we received a 100% Tetra Pak carton recycled desk-chair. Campion School in turn gifted this to a underprivileged school that it supports in Talasari (beyond Manor). So far, we have already donated four recycled desks and we are on the cusp of reaching this milestone for the fifth time! Monisha Narke and her team (including Sejal and Malavika) have constantly kept in touch and also invite us to partner / join in during various green festivals and workshops. Kudos for the great work RUR is doing. Here’s looking forward to many more years of collaborating with you.
